Whilst public transport is getting better - albeit more expensive - car travel is still the main form of transport in Kent and - it seems - will be so for the foreseeable future.
Whilst we have an extensive road network throughout the county , it is generally in a poor state of repair, with many of the same sections seemingly being 'improved' each year. Anyone who exits at junction 4 of the M20, heading towards Rochester will vouch for that!

Nevertheless, we are forced into car travel generally, though it it sometimes better to park the car and 'ride' or even sail into some of the town/city centres. 

Car maintenance is well provided for in Kent, with many garages, tyres and exhaust centres spread out through the county. There are also main dealers for all types and makes of cars in Kent, to ensure that you don't have to go out of the county to find the car of your dreams.
